What does “sweet water” mean?
Sweet water is the Gulf term for fresh, potable water. Customers in Dubai also say drinking water tanker or potable water tanker; in Arabic you’ll hear مياه حلوة or ماي حلو. All of them mean the same thing: water fit for drinking, cooking and washing — not the salty water used to compact soil on building sites.
What makes a tanker safe for drinking water?
Dubai Municipality’s Technical Guidelines for Quality of Unbottled Drinking Water (DM-HSD-GU17-DW2) set three simple rules for drinking-water tankers:
- They carry drinking water only — no other use, ever.
- They fill at approved filling stations.
- They are marked “Drinking water” in Arabic and English.
We follow all three. When a customer needs salt water, it comes in a separate partner tanker — our truck never touches it.
