How to Compare Water Tanker Quotes in Dubai (and Avoid Surprises)
By the Dubai Water Tankers team · Published · Updated
How do I compare water tanker prices in Dubai?
Two water tanker quotes only compare if they cover the same thing. Check the gallon type (US or imperial), sweet or salt water, whether delivery and VAT are included, the arrival time, and any extra charges for distance, night delivery, long hoses or waiting. Ask for one fixed delivered price in writing before the truck leaves.
- US and imperial gallons differ by about 20%
- Confirm sweet (potable) vs salt water
- Ask: is delivery included? Is VAT included?
- Get one fixed delivered price in writing

Get Price on WhatsAppWhy quotes that look different often aren’t
Water tanker prices in Dubai vary by supplier, size, area and day. But a lot of the visible difference between two quotes comes from them describing different things. Before you decide one is cheaper, make sure both answer the same seven questions.
The seven questions
1. US or imperial gallons?
A US gallon is 3.785 litres; an imperial gallon is 4.546 litres, about 20% more. “2,500 gallons” in imperial is roughly 11,365 litres; in US it’s about 9,464. Most Dubai tanker sizes are quoted in US gallons, but ask. Our quotes are always in US gallons. See the gallons to litres chart.
2. Sweet or salt water?
Sweet (potable) water costs more than salt water. A cheap “2,500 gallons” may be salt water, which is fine for site compaction but useless for a home or pool. See sweet, salt and TSE water.
3. Is delivery included?
Some quotes are for the water only, with delivery charged by distance on top. Ask for the delivered price to your exact location.
4. Is VAT included?
A quote “excluding VAT” and one “including VAT” differ by 5%. Ask which, especially if you need a tax invoice. Our quotes state VAT separately.
5. When will it arrive?
“Same day” can mean an hour or eight. If you need water now, ask for a realistic arrival time. Truck restrictions affect timing on some roads; see why delivery times change.
6. What could be added on site?
Ask about charges for:
- deliveries at night or on public holidays,
- waiting time if no one can open the gate,
- a long hose run or pumping up to a height,
- a part-load if your tank fills before the truck is empty.
7. Where does the water come from, and what truck?
For sweet water, ask whether it’s filled at an approved station and delivered in a sweet-water-only tanker. Dubai Municipality’s guideline says sweet water tankers should carry sweet water only. A low price is not worth water of unknown origin.

Order the right size first
The cheapest load is the one that fits your tank. Paying for 2,500 gallons when the tank takes 1,500 wastes money. Use which tanker size you need before you compare.
